It’s Smarta To Live Close to Marta: Part 2
Posted by Ashley Derrick on 09/30/08 in Atlanta Intown Lofts & Condos, Information
So, if you have decided to rent the rest of your life or think the financial world is going to end as we know it, I am guessing you have stopped reading this blog. Alas, I think many of you have. But if you are a faithful reader and you still like to know what condos/lofts are popping up in Atlanta - yes, things are still popping up everywhere, then read on!
Because of the lack of gas, I have decided taking Marta many places. I headed to the dentist today in Midtown (I indeed have perfect teeth) and took Marta to the North Avenue station and walked to 7th. Yet, this post will only be about places to live close to the Marta line from East Lake to Georgia State stop- otherwise, I would give away too much info and overload you.
If you get on at East Lake, you are most likely living in a single family home or possibly one of the two people living at Sutherland Corner on Dekalb Avenue (.9 miles from the stop.) By the way, I have written about many places on Dekalb Avenue, so will put newer places on this post.
The Candler Park/Edgewood stop is close to the new Clifton Place (live/work spaces -now leasing…) which includes the new Mercantile Shop and San Francisco Coffee. You could also buy a new condo at Axis ( NOW from the $150’s!) and take Marta from the Candler Park stop (.3miles.)
The next stop is the Inman Park/Reynoldstown station. Little Five-Points is around the corner, but close by on Dekalb Avenue, you will find the not yet finished Inman Green town-homes next to the Marble Lofts - both being .2 miles from the Inman Park station. * I will be doing a post on these new green town-homes soon. *
The next stop is King Memorial and from here you can easily walk (.6 miles) from Cabbagetown or the The Stack Lofts (opening soon). You also have a huge rental development called 626 Dekalb which look pretty nice. And remember folks, this is where the famous Beltline will come through -if we can ever get the money to build it!
And finally, the new (and unfinished) Pencil Factory Flats are right on the Marta line and very close to the Georgia State station (you could jump to it). This new rental community contains 188 apartments and will boast retail / restaurants on the main floor. I think this is a perfect area for Georgia State students as well as newcomers in Atlanta who are used to taking public transportation elsewhere.
So, there you have it. Our second installment of where to live close to Marta. Give me a few days to move on to Downtown then Midtown!

That is pretty smart to live near Marta. I wish where I lived had as good of public transportation as that.
