The NEW West Side

mwestoutside.jpg

Once an area of large warehouses and industrial buildings, the West Side of town is now on its way to being extremely livable and really really hip. I took Howell Mill to Huff Street (now being called the “Huff Corridor”) and then turned on Ellsworth Industrial Road to visit my friends who are opening up a Mexican restaurant that will rival Nuevo Laredo Cantina, and to my surprise, I found a second phase of the famed MWEST loft/townhomes (actually located on Marietta Blvd.) Now, if you have ever seen them- you will know exactly what I am talking about. These very colorful urban buildings are not to be looked over. In fact, I will be honest and say that when they went up a few years back, I thought they were ugly. Oh, was I so so wrong.

This environmentally responsible development is set back surrounded by trees and sit high enough where there is still a great view of the city. There are 8 different floor plans and the designs are fabulous. The most expensive floor plan (which really is not all that expensive considering what this development looks like) boasts a roof top deck and a wet bar. All the homes have small backyards or courtyards, 2 car-garages, and if I may say, the insides do not look cheap. They look modern, cool, and a bit European.

You can go walking along the wooded trails surrounding the area, you can plop on your behind at the pool, or you can work out in the fitness room. You can do all of this and live in a great space in the price range of $232,900-$377,000. Not bad. I say we all go hang out over there, drink mojitos on our roof top decks, and watch this area go from industrial to all things live, work, and play. The sales center (404-351-4400) is open each day and the sales group is really friendly and very knowledgeable of the area. You must go check it out.        *The pictures below are of the kitchen (with granite counter tops) and of the great living area.*

The MWest Lofts are great! I’ve got three good friends that currently live there. The gated community provides a really comfortable “neighborhood” feel within the city. The amenities are nice and the development is very young which means a lot of the Lofts are only a couple of years old. I have to agree with Ashley, when I saw this project in the beginning stages I did not like it. My opinion quickly changed once the construction was over. The floor plans are very open and spacious. Most all units have garage space but there is plenty of parking on the streets. Another great feature is the small “park” in the center of the development. All in all MWest is a great place to live. The pricing is still very reasonable and the Lofts are in a convenient location (Just minutes from the Atlantic Station vicinity). I was surprised to see a blog dedicated to this development but I guess they have been the talk of the town lately.
