Dekalb Avenue’s Radial

I thought I would write on a restaurant since I enjoy eating at many of them in our fair city. I chose Radial as the first one I would write about because it is in the midsts of condo, loft, and town-home central right on Dekalb Avenue. I also chose it because it is ONE of the two restaurants in our STATE that is considered a Green restaurant as part of the Green Restaurant Association. Now, there is a lot that is entailed in this rating, but it means everything from eliminating styrofoam completely, to conserving water and electricity as well as going organic and using recycled paper for menus, printing etc.
And then, there is the food. The cute owner, Phil Palmer, has created a great breakfast and lunch menu with wonderful items on both. I went the other morning and got the pumpkin pie pancakes and a greek omelet. (I was not alone by the way…) The pancakes were to die for and the fact that they make their own real whipping cream and have fluffy butter makes me happy beyond belief. So, for the sake of good food and the fact that you may be looking to live on Dekalb, go visit. You will enjoy.
A sweet server at Radial!

Interesting post, Knox. I’m curious…does being a “green restaurant” entail serving “green food”, too? I have a huge interest in “green”, environmentally friendly home building. Our houses are getting bigger and bigger, particularly in places like Alpharetta, Roswell and Milton and their is a lot of extra environmental impact from the building as well as the maintenance of a larger home. I could go on and on about this topic ;->.
Interestingly, i was in Whole Foods today in Alpharetta and they have waterless urinals in the men’s room. I couldn’t flush it even if i wanted to!
They are made by a company named Falcon. With our drought going on, i was impressed by this. This was definitely a retrofit by Whole Foods after they bought the store from Harry’s and speaks highly of the company’s values.

Green Restaurant? I had no idea such a thing existed. Wonder if my Colorado eco-broker buddies know about this?
