The Atlanta City Council recently voted to give $30 million to Atlanta Beltline Inc. What does Atlanta Beltline plan to do with this $30 million gift from the Watershed Management Department? They are going to build a storm water pond system that will be a focal point in a proposed park called Historic Fourth Ward Park, near the proposed Beltline. Here are a few other ideas that developers have envisioned for this project.
- The five year goal is to create a 13 to 16 acre park on the south side of North Avenue near City Hall East.
- Long term, this park will grow to 35 acres.
- The $30 million water feature will be finished by the end of 2009 and will cover 4.7 acres.
- The water featue will have ponds, wetlands, walkways and maybe even a boardwalk over the water.
- Part of Dallas Street may have to be closed down.
